T.C. Morris wins business of the year prize
Black Country food manufacturer TC Morris has won a prestigious business of the year prize at the Express & Star Business Awards, a celebration of the region’s most outstanding companies.
The Dudley-based firm, best known for its award-winning pork pies, sausage rolls and scotch eggs, was named medium sized business of the year at a ceremony at The Halls Wolverhampton on Thursday (June 5).
Founded in 1939, TC Morris recently relocated to larger premises in Narrowboat Way following a period of sustained growth having undergone a transformation under the leadership of fourth-generation owner and CEO Charlotte Tennant.
The expansion has enabled the business, which supplies retailers including Asda and Co-op, to recruit five new staff, with plans for further job creation and apprenticeship opportunities.
Held annually, the Express & Star Business Awards are organised to recognise companies across the Black Country and Staffordshire that demonstrate commercial excellence, innovation and social impact.
In total, 12 prizes were awarded at a black tie event attended by business representatives from across the region as well as Mayor of the West Midlands Richard Parker.
The medium sized business of the year category, sponsored by Higgs LLP, celebrated firms that met a range of criteria including clear strategy and vision, financial and team growth, as well as successfully overcoming challenges and excellence in their field along with a commitment to customer service.
Charlotte Tennant said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive the Express & Star medium sized business of the year award.
“We must thank our amazing staff who make the magic happen every day and we are also very lucky to work with amazing customers, suppliers and advisors.
“To be recognised by the leading news brand for the Black Country reflects the efforts and determination of our entire team, many of whom have worked with us for decades. We are proud to continue our growth journey by building a stronger, more ambitious future.”
Alongside Managing Director Allan Jones, Charlotte has driven new customer acquisition, product range expansion and is now exploring export opportunities.
Founded by Thomas Charles Morris, TC Morris has remained a family-run business ever since.
